On November 19, 2024, Clarivate released the 2024 Highly Cited Researchers list. A total of 6,636 scientists from more than 1,200 institutions across 59 countries and regions worldwide were selected for the 2024 roster. Ten distinguished scholars from Jilin University made the list, among whom three professors from our college — Zheng Weitao, Zhang Lijun and Yan Junmin — were selected under the Multidisciplinary category.

Clarivate releases the Highly Cited Researchers list on an annual basis to recognize globally influential natural and social scientists who have made outstanding contributions to their respective disciplines. This year, the 6,636 researchers account for a total of 6,886 entries on the global list.

The candidates are selected based on the volume of highly cited papers published over the 11-year period from 2013 to 2023. The selection methodology relies on rigorous evaluation and sorting of highly cited paper data from journals indexed in SCIE (Science Citation Index Expanded) and SSCI (Social Sciences Citation Index), conducted by bibliometric specialists at Clarivate’s Institute for Scientific Information (ISI).
