Wei Cundi is professor and PhD supervisor of Jilin University. He obtained a PhD degree in mineralogy from Jilin University in 2001 and stayed as a teacher there after graduation. For many years, he has been engaged in teaching and scientific research on solid waste utilization, development and application of mineral materials, and hydrogen energy materials. He has presided over more than 10 scientific research projects on solid waste utilization, with the total project funding reaching over 50 million yuan. He has published more than 30 related papers and hold 19 authorized patents. He has cooperated with China Shenhua Group to carry out scientific research and industrialization work on the extraction of alumina from high-aluminum fly ash and its comprehensive utilization, and innovatively developed the "one-step acidolysis method" of producing alumina by circulating fluidized bed fly ash, and the "double acid method" of producing alumina from pulverized coal furnace fly ash. His cooperative partner China Shenhua Group constructed an industrial pilot plant by employing the "one-step acidolysis method", and successfully produced qualified alumina products and realized long-term operation. At present, an industrialization demonstration plant is under construction in the Shenhua Group to extract alumina from 300,000 tons of fly ash per year and electrolyze aluminum. In recent years, in the field of hydrogen energy, he has developed systematic processes and technologies for hydrogen production from new aluminum alloy materials and its comprehensive utilization, which is expected to be industrialized in the near future. He was recognized as Tang Aoqing Distinguished Professor of Jilin University, and Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions in Jilin Province. He currently serves as deputy dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Jilin University and director of the Jilin Provincial Solid Waste Utilization Engineering Center.


Research fields and social contributions

For many years, He has been engaged in teaching and   scientific researches on solid waste utilization, development and application   of mineral materials, and hydrogen energy materials. In recent years, he   cooperated with China Shenhua Group to carry out scientific research and   industrialization work on the extraction of alumina from high-aluminum fly   ash and its comprehensive utilization, and innovatively developed the   "one-step acidolysis method" of producing alumina by circulating   fluidized bed fly ash, and the "double acid method" of producing   alumina from pulverized coal furnace fly ash. At present, the technology has   been applied by Shenhua Group and is being industrialized, which will generate   great social and economic benefits.
